Main Competition - Golden Pomegranate Award Jury
This year IFFA is presenting a new competition, Golden Pomegranate Award.
The Award will be given to Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor & Best Actress chosen by the festival Jury:
One of Iran's most legendary actors. He has over 50 years of experience in the motion picture industry, with featured appearances in more than 90 films. He became a major star as the brooding hero of the revenge drama Qeysar (1969). He won the prize for Best Actor at the International Film Festival of India in 1974 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival in 2006. He was one of the first Iranians to appear in American and European co-productions, such as Caravans in 1978. His most recent work in 2012 IFFA film Rhino Season.
A multi-award winning Iranian actress. She is one of the most significant actresses of post-revolutionary Iranian cinema. She has been nominated nine times for the Best Actress Award at the Fajr International Film Festival and won the Crystal Simorgh four times. She is known for her roles in films such as Gilaneh, Tales, Blue Veiled and Here Without Me. In 2015 Motamedarya was awarded a Special Mention for Actress at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards for her role in Avalanche.
Is an Iranian Kurdish writer and film director. His film Mahi Va Gorbeh (Fish & Cat) was shown at the 70th Venice Film Festival where he won the Special Orizzonti Award for Innovative Content. He was nominated for the 2013 Asia Pacific Screen Awards for Achievement in Directing for Fish & Cat, which featured in 2013 IFFA. For his short film The Dragonfly Storm, Mokri won Best Director at the 2007 Noor Iranian Film Festival. Mokri is regarded as one of the best and most inovative young directors of Iran.
