Since the Islamic Republic of Iran was established in 1979, Australia's Iranian-born population has flourished, jumping by more than fifty percent at the 2011 census.

But still, here in Queensland, our Iranian population is relatively small.

So why was the Iranian Film Festival Australia born in Brisbane?

And how did a local film lecturer, with no family ties to Iran, become instrumental to its creation?
